Sidney Crosby Continues All-Star Voting Lead

No real surprise, I suppose.

From the Canadian Press (CP):
The NHL's leading scorer is a virtual lock to be a starter at next month's all-star game.

Sidney Crosby continues to lead all vote-getters in numbers released Tuesday by the league. He's received 747,332 votes, which is almost twice as much as the next best forward in the Eastern Conference.

Fans determine each conference's starting lineup for the all-star game, which will be held Jan. 24 in Dallas.

Washington Capitals sniper Alex Ovechkin is the next best forward in the Eastern Conference with 427,654 votes. Buffalo's Daniel Briere is third.

He's in position to start alongside a couple teammates. Sabres goalie Ryan Miller leads all goaltenders in voting while Buffalo's Brian Campbell is tops among Eastern Conference defenceman.

Montreal's Sheldon Souray is second in voting among blue-liners in the conference.

Updated results of fan voting for the Western Conference will be released Wednesday.
