Pens v Leafs (W 6-4)
ALL IS RIGHT WITH THE WORLD ONCE AGAIN. LIFE HAS MEANING AGAIN. THE DRY SPELL IS OVER. SIDNEY CROSBY FINALLY SCORES A GOAL THIS SEASON. (In case you didn't catch it, that was nothing but sarcasm, baby!!!)
Sidney didn't just score one goal; he scored two. Anyone with two functioning eyeballs could tell that it was just a matter of time before Sidney would register his first goal of the season. He's been playing like a machine but, until tonight, hasn't been able to capitalize on anything. It's only game four. Sid's got 78 more games to show the world why it's his show.
So, WOW. It was a physically painful game. Well, it was for the Penguins players, anyways. Bodies were flying everywhere. First we had starting goaltender Dany Sabourin being forced head first into the pipes. Then, Colby Armstrong stopped a puck with his face. Worst of all, Brooks Orpik tried to deliver one of his trademark big hits on Simon Gamache, but instead collided with Gamache's and met the business end of his stick. It wasn't pretty. Orpik suffered a mild concussion. He left the game following the incident and did not return.
Our captain was feeling feisty tonight, too. He apparently had enough of Nik Antropov (didn't we all?) and got into a bit of a scrap with him. You have to admit: Sid's nothing if not brave: At 6'6" and 230 pounds, Antropov is a bit more formidable when up against Sidney's 5'11" 200 pound frame.
Maxime "Borat" Talbot scored two goals and an assist. For his first goal, his persistence paid off yet again. His second goal was a long, bouncy shot to an empty net. Erik Christensen scored the first goal of the night right off a faceoff that was AGAIN won by Adam Hall. Ryan Malone got a goal on one of the night's many power play opportunities.
I missed some of tonight's game because I was at my cousin's wedding (Congratulations, Paul and Rachel!!!). If you're looking for a breakdown of the action, Joe Sager of PittsburghPenguins.com has got tonight's recap covered.
Tonight was Pink Ribbon Night for breast cancer awareness. On a related note, I'm sure you all have heard, but I haven't mentioned it here on TSCS: Jason Blake was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia earlier this week. We - okay, I - may hate him for this incident:
...but he's still a human being who doesn't deserve to have something like this happen to him. He's getting treatment and has no plans to leave the NHL. He and his doctors are optimistic that he will be fine. Here's to your health, Jason.
LATE EDIT:
Friend of The Show and fellow Crosby blogger Eric B. wrote a great recap over at The Sidney Crosby Spotlight. Apparently, I missed Austin Powers himself!!! Actor Mike Myers was on hand for the game...
Even so, it really is good to see that face again.

Speaking of injuries: if he's not careful, he's going to bite that tongue off one of these days...
