It's Not a Hockey Night in Pittsburgh
Well folks, there's no getting around it. For hockey fans, this time of year moves slower than progress in Iraq. And the big news in Pittsburgh today is that the new arena will not be completed until the 2010-2011 season - a full year later than originally planned. The team will lose revenue from the delay, but "in the end felt it was prudent to ensure quality design and construction." That's okay with me because it's going to take a while before I'm actually ready to say goodbye to Pens games in the Igloo.
I may be late on this, but I just noticed it today: the Penguins released their schedule in downloadable files for fans. I strongly recommend downloading the Excel file to Microsoft Office users to import into your Microsoft Outlook calendars. It's pretty nice - they have the reminders set to appear about 7 hours before the start of each game. The reminder tells you what team the Pens are facing that day, and if the game is at home or away. It's a great way to keep track of the season's stats. Installation instructions are on the site just belowthe link to download the file. Also on the site are a couple of sweet new wallpapers, including this one:
I was browsing through YouTube again and found some videos that you might enjoy. (Thankfully, I didn't find anymore videos like the gem I found the other day. YEESH!) I'll be adding one of these videos to posts on particularly slow news days (like today) until the season starts. To kick things off, here's a countdown of YouTube user yzermaniac92's top 10 favorite goals scored by our own Saint Sid:
