Penguins 4 - Islanders 5: No closer to 100..

Sidney is no closer to 100 points after putting up a donut against the Isles in a 5-4 shootout loss. Sid has 2 games to get 3 points if he wants to reach the century mark.

The New York Islanders won their fourth shootout against the Penguins this season Saturday night, 5-4.

Pittsburgh’s Michel Ouellet scored on the Penguins’ first attempt. Sergei Gonchar scored on the fourth attempt and Ryan Whitney beat Rick DiPietro on the team’s fifth attempt. Ryan Malone rung the puck off the crossbar on the sixth attempt.

Sebastien Caron denied Miroslav Satan and Trent Hunter before Shawn Bates, Jason Blake and Alexei Yashin scored in succession. Robert Nilsson tallied on the Islanders’ sixth attempt to earn the win.

It was the fourth time this season these two teams have gone to a shootout against each other. The Islanders won all four of them.

Penguins super rookie Crosby failed to register a point Saturday night. The 18-year-old’s chase for 100 points remains at 97 (38+59) with two games remaining.

Overall, Sid played 22:24 and finished pointless, -1, and 8 for 18 in facoffs with 2 more minor penalties. Not a very memorable game for Sidney.
