Sidney's Special Plate
I'm soooo excited to bring this to you!!!
The good folks at the Parkinson Society Maritime Region (PSMR), a Nova Scotia based organization that serves as the voice of Maritimers living with Parkinson’s Disease, are having a Celebrity Plate Auction in which our title man Sidney has participated. Proceeds from the auction will benefit research, education programs, and support services.

More than 1.2 million people in Canada and the US live with Parkinson's, for which there is no known cause or cure.
Okay. Let's say - hypothetically - that Sidney Crosby isn't your cup of tea. Good news! Several other celebrities such as Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks, Muhammad Ali (who happens to suffer from the disease), Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Sarah McLaughlin, Harrison Ford, and even Stephen Colbert have also designed and autographed plates that will be auctioned on eBay from April 20 to May 11 as a fundraiser for the PSMR. A total of 58 celebrity plates will be offered. (Click here to see the entire list of celebrity artists.) The only stipulation of the design was that each celebrity was asked to draw a tulip because it is the world-wide symbol of hope for Parkinson's.
The PSMR was nice enough to send me a sneak peek with this really good, clear photo of Sid's plate:

Click on Sid's plate to check out all the auctions and BID, BID, BID!!! And if you don't have enough money to bid on any of the autographed plates, think about purchasing a Parker Bear. They're on sale for just $10.00! Of course you can always give a donation - remember that every little bit helps.

Sid's always willing to help out for a good cause. He's done his part, now the rest is up to you. :)

The Saint did a great job with the tulip - look at the PSMR's logo at the bottom of the page - though, I hope he's not planning on quitting his day job, haha!
The auction for Sid's plate goes live on May 4, 2008.

Wow, Saint Sidney does it again.
My grandmother passed away last year with Parkinson's. It's very painful, and the medicine causes you to become very out of it in old age. It can cause hallucination or dementia.
I will definitely be paying close attention to this so I may try bidding on it.
I love that you said hypothetically, haha.
Sid's freaking awesome. I'm way too poor for the plate, which I'm sure will be going for tens of thousands of dollars to some lucky (and generous!) fan. However, I'm definitely getting a bear.
Did I mention he's freaking awesome? I love that he wrote "Penguins" haha.
Good to see he's not good at absolutely everything. :) That's cute though. I hope it raises a good chunk of change.
wow, thats amazing
i to love that he put 'penguins' on the side
i've never actually seen a tulip that ends with two stems (in this case, hockey sticks)
props to sid though
he's helping out a great cause
stanley cup, here we come! wooo
Alright, I bid on Brad Marchand's. It was too cute to pass up.
I have to say - Harper's cracks me up.
XDancexxforxxmeX, please accept my belated condolences. that must have been very difficult.
I've had a family friend pass away a while back of Parkinson's. It's amazing that he and so many others are contributing. And he didn't do half bad on the tulip. I like the penguins touch to it. I may even try to bid on it, though I'm sure it will go for much more than I can afford. Thanks for the sneak peek.
Awesome for the sneak peek and spreading the word on a good cause. I'm having fun looking at the pictures, wondering if I can win any bids...
aww thats so cute. too bad i dont have the money or id buy it.
oh, that is too cute. but austin lemieux had to have drawn that, right ;)
i kid! the saint can do no wrong!

JJ really should also stop and think about how Sid's 20, Geno 21. . .GEEZ. Wait until the peek years, then tell me.
I mean, Mario is a legend for sure.
But Sid will be one in his own right. Why compare stars of today with stars of old, other than to stir up conversation (and controversy?)
Sid's got plenty of time to prove that somewhere 20 years from now someone's gonna say "That's the best talent since Sidney Crosby!"
WOO. Pens = epic win.
Haha, peak.
wow. me = epic fail.
How ya doin snooooooop
Are you ready for tomorrow or what?!
:)
That plate sure didn't fetch the money I thought it would!!! What do you think happened?
HardofEaring, i thought the same thing! my guess is that people were anticipating that they couldn't afford the plate, so they didn't bother trying to bid...
