So It Begins

Here's an excerpt from an email from Good Friend of The Show Pensgirl:
Get your jaw ready, it's about to meet the floor. [← snoop: She wasn't lying!]

Here's the caption [given to the photo by the Associated Press]: Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby pushes himself up on his stick during hockey practice in Pittsburgh, Thursday, April 24, 2008. The Penguins take on the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinal playoff hockey series on Friday. (AP Photo/Gene J. Puskar)

Here's what I would have captioned it: What ankle injury?
Now, the Pièce de résistance:

My caption? One word: UNREAL.

If you want, you can share your ideas for a caption in the comments section below. (Oh, and make sure you click on the picture to enlarge it - you can see that Sid's playoff beard is starting to get slightly more respectable, LOL!) BIG, BIG thanks to Pensgirl for the awesome picture!!!

This one's for the ladies (well, I suppose the men could vote too...): The radio station B94 is taking a vote to find out who is Pittsburgh's hottest Penguin. Right now
(at 10:23am Eastern), Big Georges Laraque has a COMMANDING lead with 55.5% of the votes. To give you an idea of how big his lead is, the Saint is coming in at second place - with a mere 15.5% of the votes!!! Thanks go to Friend of The Show Amanda P. for the link!!!

And I'll leave you for the day with some more great stuff to get you ready for tonight's game from three of our blogging Good Friends of The Show:
A reminder to my Pittsburgh area Friends: Remember, there's no Pens game tomorrow, so you really need to go to the Pittsburgh Hockey - Celebrities v Pharaohs game. (Click the poster below to enlarge.)

There will be some NHL Legends playing in this game. Go to the Pharaohs' website for more information.

I'm going to do my best to have the recap up by midnight tonight. While most people in my office are saying TGIF, I'm saying TGIHNP!!!! (Thank God It's a Hockey Night in Pittsburgh!)

GO PENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See, I'm amazed that composite stick isn't bending more under his weight. He must use a pretty stiff stick.

Mention the word "ice" around me and immediately go all spread eagle ala Bambi. I totally slept in the day they handed out "grace", "poise" and "coordination"....

It's TGIHNN here (the last "N" is Nashville...in case ya don't know)! I'll be glued to the tv for back-to-back games through most of this series (though the Pens will have to win without me on Tuesday...I'm going to Dallas for games 3 and 4). I'm looking forward to two very physical match ups...and sending the Rangers and Sharks to some early May tee times :)

Go PENS! Go STARS!!

Sorry for the double-post, but I just noticed in my tabs that the orange B for Blogger has been replaced by a puck with an 87 on it (I am going to assume that's a puck, of course). Very cool!

I was curious enough about it that I went and got a stick from downstairs so that I could try it.

Pushing yourself down to that position from standing is probably harder than pushing yourself up from being on your butt (but I'm also not able to do unassisted pistols - one legged squats - while Crosby can probably do them in his sleep). Either way, you're more pushing down on the stick as opposed to bending it, so now I at least understand why the thing isn't flexing. :)

Ok.. my caption is very nc-17, so I don't expect to see it on the blog... but all I'm saying is... "oh the positions"... then again my mind went to pot when I saw dare's comment about the stiff stick... "every woman needs a piece of good hard wood" lmao.. again.. i don't expect to see it... so no worries... and yes, my mind frequently dives into the gutter when i see pics of El Saint.

haha, I would have put on my blades to try it, but since you can't dig in with wheels like you can with skates, I didn't think it would be a good comparison. If I remember when summer shinny starts up I'll probably give it a try just because I'm curious now. :)
