"How's It Going, Baby?"

Check out this video of the Pens leaving the ice, um, "interacting" with the Flyers fans following Tuesday's win. BGL and RUUUUUUUUU have a little physical fun with the fans, while Friend of The Show Kate M. and I are pretty sure that Geno screams, "How's it going, baby?!" Sid, ever the mature one, is seen at the end of the clip ducking in with his head down:

Leave a comment and let us know what you think Geno said. :P BIG thanks to Kate for sending in the video!

Jodie,

I think one of the Flyer fans said it, not Malkin. The accent is very american, it doesn't sync with Malkin's lips, and it came through at least as loud as any of the comments coming from the fans' side of the glass. Anything said (or even shouted) by the players would probably have been muffled by the glass to some extent.

Loved the clip, though!

Sounded like, "How's it doin', baby?"

Dunno.

Either way. Game four. What a feeling.

Sid plays it exactly as he'd have to.

You know no matter what he said, especially if it was in any way at all derrogatory, would make it all over the media.

mike, are you sure? i thought for sure it came from geno. oh well, i've been wrong before, so it wouldn't be a surprise if i was wrong here, too! ;)

fleury29, only 7 1/2 more hours...

seeker, truer words were never spoken! everything sid does already gets dissected - especially by media based in the opposing teams' cities - but if he would have mouthed off, even just a "whatever" aimed at the flyers fans, we would never hear the end of it.

Yeah, I agree with Mike. I'm pretty sure it was said TO Malkin not by him...It doesn't sound like his voice at all...gotta love Big George though.

Regardless, Geno's still clearly having fun at the Flyer fans' expense, so we can love him just the same.

Sid's version of taunting them is 39 points in 21 games in that arena. I can't believe I like anything Don Cherry has to say but I laughed my tuchus off when he gave that stat and said clearly Sid loves playing in Philly. His middle finger to them is all those pucks in their net. Woooo!

Unfortunately Geno didnt say that. His voice is very low and his accent is still heavy. (check the interview with Ryan Malone). Love this clip, tho! Thanks!

Less than six hours now. I'm about to leave for work. Hoping the streaming video link I got works there tonight, otherwise it will be Mike Lange on the radio broadcast tonight.

As soon as they announce the Cup finals schedule games 4-7 are going to be put in for vacation. I am not missing this.

LET'S GO PENS!

I agree for reasons listed above, it can't be Malkin, but the video is still amusing. ^_^

The full version of that video is on the Pens website (under game recaps). At one point (I think it's either after warmups or in between periods), BGL replies to a shouting Philly fan, "And how much money do YOU make?" (with a huge grin on his face) before heading to the dressing room. Too funny.

GO PENS!!!

i'm going to have to watch this on my machine at home because here at work with smuggled (craptacular) speakers, it seems like it's geno saying it.

haha, i say "smuggled" because we're not supposed to have speakers here, but there's this plug and play set that's circulating around the office - but they look like they've come from a dollar store. it's one small unit that doesn't require its own power source (clue #1 that they blow) that you just plug them into the headset jack. :P

OK. I just went back to check again. The full version can be found by going to the PENS main website and clicking on Videos and then Game 3 Wrap and Interviews (5/13/08). The BGL segment is at 2:20. **Correction: He says, "How much money do you guys make?".** Anyways, the whole video (about 20 mins) is really good.

I couldn't help but crack up at that video. I totally cursed myself for not recording that game, the main reason being because my brother wanted to see it, my reason was for BGL and the guys doing this.

I live in Philly and I get tons of shit for being a Pens fan. I loved it when BGL raised his arms. I expected no less from him. He taunts people on and off the ice and thats why we love him.

Four hours to go!! GO PENS!

I think it was Geno. I find it hard to believe though because Geno has a thick accent and that voice sounded very American.

But if you watch Geno it looks as if he said it. His head kind of moves to the words if you get what I am saying.

Either way.. I am hoping we sweep this series tonight.

GO PENS!!!

Oh yea, thats definitely a fan trying to be "witty". They don't exactly have the most intelligent insults. Like the sign that said "I Smell" and had a picture of a black cat. Is it just me or does that not say that the particular person holding the sign smells, rather than insulting someone else?

Well anyway, it's definitely a flyers fan.

Blogger snoopyjode said...

xdancexxforxxmex, that sign was conveying a very vulgar message that the holder smelled something, implying that the penguins smelled like that particular, um, "thing."

that was really disgusting, and i refuse to type those words - especially since i know a lot of younger pens fans visit this site. but if you still don't quite know what it meant, just know that the cat was used as a replacement for a particular word, and if you think about it (get your mind WAAAAY DOWN in the gutter), you should be able to understand.

I love them so much.

Ruutu and BGL are priceless
I can see how some people might say it was Geno, some not, but I'm still undecided

Wow...thanks for the explanation, Flyers fans disgust me. God, I mean I know all fans say things like "your team sucks" but to go THAT far is down right wrong. It's not like I can never say I've not insulted other teams, especially the Flyers, but I wouldn't get that vulgar.

no problem, xdancexxforxxmex.

to be fair there have been at least 2 flyers fans that have appeared here on the show that have been cool. UGH, and we've got some embarrassing pens fans, too (the "sid, put it in my five hole" girl immediately comes to mind).

now, i've watched that clip at home and, while the sound is much better, i still think geno's the one that said it. his body jerks forward in the pattern of the words IMO, so if he didn't say it, it's a hell of a coincidence. but you're all right - regardless of who said it, BGL's impression of a fly on a windshield is classic. it's kind of like saying "BOOYAH" with your entire body!! :)

Great video. I too think it comes from Geno since right before that someone in the stands seems to say something similar as if he's replying back. Just my two cents. Great blog! :)
